La Rombaia is named after the Rombai family, the true pioneers of this place, who built the first farmhouse here in the late 1700s. In the early 19th century, there was a cabin near the farm where wild boar hunts were organized. The wild boar with a Prussian helmet that still serves as the symbol of La Rombaia comes from a sketch drawn by a guest in 1820, during the banquet after a hunt involving a particularly agile and aggressive boar. This drawing was copied onto a wooden sign that hung on the door of the Rombaia hunting cabin for many years. On one side, the peace and quiet of the orchards and fields; on the other, the relaxing ambience of the pool, and all around, the beauty of Tuscany's Maremma region. La Rombaia grows olives, fruit, vegetables and grains, all of which you can enjoy at your dinner table. Its rooms and apartments are lovingly decorated in authentic Tuscan style, and the names alone are a journey through time-honored country traditions: la Cantina (the Cellar), il Frantoio (the Olive Press), l’Essiccatoio (the Drying Room), il Mastro Carraio (the Wheelwright), il Mulino (the Mill), la Selleria (the Saddlery), il Granaio (the Granary), la Colombaia (the Dovecot), la Filanda (the Spinning Room)...
